We had Brenden for our DJ and he was awesome! He met with us ahead of time to talk about the general vibe we wanted, the kind of music we liked and disliked, all that. He even came out to see the exact space so he’d know what to bring and where to set up, etc. He was very helpful in guiding us through the planning process and asking us for specific things so it all went smoother. We would have had no idea what to do, otherwise, having never planned a wedding reception before.
For instance, he asked for a list of songs to play for the first dance, which was also the anniversary dance for us, since we didn’t want to do a solo dance. He also suggested a “do not play list” and we definitely gave him one, which he stuck to faithfully. He had a form to fill out for bridal part info, which was great.
We didn’t actually have a bridal party and our wedding was fairly non-traditional, but just by having the form and talking through it all, we were able to make sure we were all on the same page it all went smoothly. He provided the mics for the ceremony and speeches, and did a few announcements for things here and there, but that we pretty much all we needed for MC services. If we had needed the full shebang, he would have been able to do that easily as well. But he was very flexible and didn’t push for us to do anything we didn’t want to. Which I can’t say for every DJ service we called! A lot of them are full of machismo and don’t listen to you. Brenden was the opposite of that – he listened, he provided his professional advice, and he made us feel confident that the night was going to go how we wanted it to.
Brenden also brought some awesome lights for uplighting and it changed the whole atmosphere! It was beautiful and really made the place look polished. Even though our decorations were awesome, it wouldn’t have looked as perfect without the uplighting, which was small, easy to put together, and available in any color so it matched our theme!
As for the music itself, he did fantastically! The dinner music was at just the right volume, and interesting enough to listen to but not overpowering for conversation. The after-dinner party music was also perfect! A lot of people were out on the dance floor for a long time, myself included! And it was a great mix of fast and slow songs. If there’s a downside to Brenden’s work, it’s only that by the end of the night my feet were killing me. 🙂 So if you get the chance, pick Brenden!
